Overview

This guide is designed to help practices access inventory items in secure Storage Areas (i.e., Lynx cabinets, drawer units, and refrigerators secured with a remote lock) in the event there is an issue with the Lynx hardware, or when the Lynx computer controlling these devices via USB is unavailable or offline, for example, during a power failure.

Hardware Failure

If the Lynx PC is working and there is a Lynx hardware issue, such as a mechanical failure with the Lynx cabinet, drawer unit, or remote lock, follow the instructions to manually open the Storage Area, then select the Converting a Secure Area to an Unsecured Area option below to learn how to bypass the hardware requirement when dispensing, restocking, etc.

Offline Tracking

When manually opening the cabinet, due to a power outage, for instance, it is recommended to keep detailed notes of all items removed from, and added to Lynx, so any dispenses, returns, restocks, transfers, etc. can be properly documented when the Lynx system is available again.
